Top Rugby Fundraisers

We all know running a rugby club isn’t just about perfecting those lineouts, smashing tackles, beautiful line breaks and blasting rucks—it’s also about making sure the team’s bank account is in good shape. It can seem like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. Fundraising is key to making sure your team has everything from new kits to travel expenses covered. So, here are a few of our favorite fundraising ideas that can help boost your coffers:

  • Clothes Swap Fundraiser: We all have a bunch of clothes in our wardrobes that aren’t being worn, maybe they are a bit tight or out of fashion. Get your squad and their families to donate any quality (clean) clothing, sort them and charge an entry fee and do a bit for the environment at the same time.
  • Rugby Trivia Night: Host a trivia night at a local pub or clubhouse. Charge an entry fee for teams to participate. Make the questions rugby-themed and offer some cool prizes. It’s a fun way to bring the community together and raise funds in the process. Hopefully in some parts of the world its BBQ season so a few burgers will also raise a couple of quid.

  • Car Wash: A classic, but still effective. Set up a car wash in a busy area on a weekend. Get the players involved and offer to wash cars for a donation. It’s simple, requires ver little setup, and can be a great way to bond as a team while raising money.

  • Sponsored Events: Organize a sponsored run, cycle, or another physical challenge. Get players, coaches, and supporters to participate and seek sponsorship from friends and family. It’s a great way to promote fitness and raise money simultaneously, great for the off season to help keep the squad together and build a bit of fitness.

So, there you have it a few fun and effective ways to raise funds for your rugby club. Most important of all make sure to get the word out about these fundraisers on social media and by putting up posters in your local shops.

Get your team involved, make it enjoyable, and watch the cash pour in. Happy fundraising!
